My educational career has provided me with the tools necessary to contribute to advances in molecular evolution by bringing together my knowledge of mathematics and biology. My current research will allow me to apply those theories to the collaborative research being done at the Bielawski lab.

Presently, I am interested in assessing, improving, and implementing codon models of evolution. I seek to ameliorate current statistical models that aim to detect functional adaptation in the hopes of better understanding what is occurring at the molecular level.
